What is Ceylon Tea?

Ceylon (say-lawn) tea is a type of tea produced in the island state of Sri Lanka, formerly known as Ceylon. Sri Lanka is small but has a huge range in terms of altitude, climate, soil type, plant varieties and weather, so the flavors and character of the teas produced there vary greatly. Despite regional nuances, the classic Ceylon flavor is generally considered bold, full-bodied and brisk. It has medium to full tannins and some notes of citrus, chocolate or spice.

Ceylon Tea is produced from the dried leaves of the tea plant Camellia sinensis. The leaves are often described as wiry because they are left long and thin with a wire-like appearance. In the world of tea, these leaves are very easy to identify. Most Ceylon teas are orthodox teas, which means they are hand-crafted to make bright, sparkling teas.

What is BOP Special Variety?

BOP Special is a finest grade of tea which consists of neat smaller broken leaf without any other particles. This grade has been well made to retain a much neater appearance.
BOPsp tea is also being used for English Breakfast blends. It is much sought after by tasters who prefer a strong liquor. This tea has a malty flavor and leaves a fruity aftertaste in the mouth. In appearance, this grade is smaller than FBOP and neater. Once brewed, this tea has a rich aroma and the liquor generally has a bright reddish color and much strength with a unique delicate taste.
